Through this project, I wanted to explore androgyny in fashion, especially by looking at what we actually define as androgynous and how it reflects society’s attitudes about gender and equality. Has masculinity become the centerpiece of what is supposed to be a meeting point between the sexes? I wanted to challenge the typical image of the classic woman-in-black men’s dress by combining extremes of what we see as masculine and feminine traits, and create a woman’s collection with a new image of androgyny.
